Jennifer Pozner coming to Butler April 21

I am organizing this event for next week:

Jennifer Pozner, founder and director of Women In Media and News, will give a talk called "Hillary Clinton is a Size Eight, and Other Useless Things I Learned from the News" from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in JH141.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (317) 940-6047.

The talk will focus on women and news media, including the coverage of women in politics, violence against women, and economics/poverty. She will conclude with a discussion on women in the news industry and media economics.

As a journalist and media critic, Pozner has published widely on women, media, politics and popular culture. Before founding WIMN in 2001, she directed the Women’s Desk at the national media watch group FAIR and wrote for Extra! Magazine. Pozner has conducted multi-media presentations and participated in panels and debates at dozens of colleges and conferences across the country. Additionally, she has worked closely with the women’s human rights groups MADRE and Women for Afghan Women, and with a variety of other women-led social justice groups, including the Center for New Words’ WAM (Women, Action & Media) conference, Women Leaders Online and New Yorkers Say No To War. She is a graduate of Hampshire College. More info about Pozner is available at http://www.wimnonline.org/about/people.html. Read more.
