GMMP Preview
Results from the 2009 Global Media Monitoring Project will be released on September 29, but WACC released some information as part of a preview. One finding is that female reporters are almost twice as likely as male reporters to challenge gender stereotypes in news stories. That is an interesting and perhaps somewhat unexpected finding, as female reporters typically subscribe to the same professional values as male reporters to succeed in the news business. If this is true, having more female reporters would indeed make a difference in the news content. For more, see the press release.
