New Journal on Women and Gender

Journal of Research on Women and Gender launched at Texas State

The Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies and the Women and Gender Research Collaborative at Texas State University-San Marcos launched a peer-reviewed electronic journal March 25 at noon in room 336 Flowers Hall.

Texas State faculty, staff, students and media were invited to meet with those involved in the development and production of the Journal of Research on Women and Gender.

The journal will be offered free annually over the World Wide Web. It welcomes manuscripts based on original work of scholars documenting women’s experiences and analyzing the significance of gender. It is an inter-disciplinary entity reflecting qualitative research, quantitative research, pedagogical works, and creative projects. Scholars worldwide will be invited to participate in the interdisciplinary journal.

“It is an excellent opportunity to showcase critical and creative thinking around issues of local, national, and international import,” said Sandra Mayo, director of the Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies who organized the Women and Gender Research Collaborative in 2008.

The journal leadership includes Kate Peirce, executive editor, and Susan Weill, associate executive editor, both on the faculty of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Terri Pantuso, Department of English, will serve as the managing editor. The editorial board includes both Texas State faculty and faculty from other institutions representing numerous disciplines.
